Philabundance Community Kitchen

Client Situation

For 20 years, Philabundance Community Kitchen (PCK) operated without a permanent space. This culinary training and life-skills program empowers adults with low to no income by preparing them for careers in foodservice. Beyond training, PCK provides more than 250,000 meals annually to Philadelphia’s most vulnerable residents through community partners and its own social enterprise, PCKatering. With demand growing, PCK needed a facility that could expand its reach, double student enrollment, extend the program length, and multiply meal production while also serving as a hub for the surrounding North Philadelphia community.

Foodservice facilities design and project management services

OEA was commissioned to provide foodservice facilities design and project management services for the popular University of North Texas dining facility, Bruce Dining Hall.

However, UNT Dining Services understood that the current operations – the dining room, serving area and kitchen – were worn and in need of major upgrades and a refresh so students could enjoy a revitalized space, expanded menu selection and new points of service.
